I remember in late 2003, middle of 2004? Maybe little later... not sure now - I was fairly new at the time - I was coming from the City of God and was on my way over to Empire High Sec... when I saw this Scorpion zooming to the gate, just as I was warping to the next gate, and no I did not know that Book Marks existed at that point...
So this Scorp zooms in just as my Indy 3 zooms out... and I am at the next gate 15km... I knew it was bad news, because the only player in the system was this dude... Tank CEO, and he did not look too friendly...
So, I lay in the AB, and try to get to the .5 system in front of me... and the Scorp shows up behind me, I am 10k away from the gate when the torpedoes start slamming the indy.... I am peeing my pod, and really really hoping to run...
Funny thing is, I had a bunch of Secure Cans in the hold, empty, because I had couple extra after hanging them around the ruins, there were some juicy rats there, and me and my mates were using cans as storage... anyway, the Scorp is tanking sentry fire, and I am laying in the AB, and wonder to myself, why am I running? I have no implants, I have no loot, but the guy looks scary as hell, so I am running....
At some point a few seconds later my Indy blows up... and the secure can pops out, thats what saved my ass. Tank goes for the secure can first, while still locking my pod, but, by that time I am already at the gate, and just as the first torpedo hits my pod I am jumped.... since I made sure to press jump... jump.... jump... button...
I wind up on the other side in a .5 system with little over 1% of structure in the pod, and thank my lucky stars.
I sent Tank an eve-mail few seconds later, saying that it was pretty scary and exciting all at the same time, and asking how about taking me into the fold and teaching me a few things about cool stuff like that... I received a reply, "I don't Teach." that's it... the rejection, it broke my heart... for a little bit, and ****ed me off at the same time.
So, once I am rearmed and ready, and two of my friends are ready, we are all noobies in Thoraxes and we go back to get revenge on Tank CEO for killing my empty Indy 3....Tank was still around, probably cursing about the empty secure can Indy... well, anyway, needless to say we all died to his Scorp... and that was it...
Anyway, Tank, you be allright, take a break go do something else, train the character more - still, you will be OK one way or another.
I just thought I would share a story of how I met you for the first time...
